Another week, another wine. Pick up some of these iYellow recommends and sip on!
Don’t Poke Bears Red – D’Ont Poke the Bear is a VQA Ontario wine that is now available in the LCBO for just $14.95, and for every bottle purchased, $1 will be donated to Friend’s First, a non-profit organization that helps to spread the message of connectedness to build a more kind and thoughtful world.
Tasting Note: A blend of Cabernet and Baco Noir, this red blend can stand up to BBQ’s, campfires, docks and condos. It’s smooth, ripe and loaded with berry fruit.

Tasting Note: Medium ruby colour; aromas and flavours of plum, herb and red berry with hints of spice; dry, medium bodied with, balanced acidity, light tannic structure and medium long finish.
Featherstone Canadian Oak Chardonnay 2015 – This is a truly unique wine from a favourite Ontario producer, this wine is one of the reasons that we continue to be #HardForChard
Tasting Note: The nose hits [you] immediately with the signature funk letting you know that this is an indigenous ferment but it quickly makes way to vanilla, citrus and golden delicious apple. The balance to this wine is outstanding with nice weight on the palate and a creamy texture that is met with nice acidity. Flavours of butterscotch and baking spice are met with apple and orange. The finish lingers leaving a bit of that funk from the nose and some spice to tide you over until your next sip. This continues to be one of the best priced hidden gems from the province, ignoring the fact that this is an indigenous ferment made using Canadian oak barrels simply put this is kickass Chardonnay. Score – 4.5 Stars (out of 5). (André Proulx, andrewinereview.ca, March 20, 2017)
