This week, the Wine Angels sip into Summer!
We’re freaking out over a Rosé from the Rosé picnic, a solid South African Chardonnay and a great value Chianti!
This past weekend, the angels were at both i4C, and the inaugural Rosé Picnic with celebrity chef Mark McEwan and it was a total blast and a half! If you haven’t already seen our epic video(s) of him sabering, click here! and once more here, because it was truly an epic moment!
In that honour, we highly recommend that you investigate the featured wine of the picnic. It is currently not available in the LCBO, but we hope that it will be soon!
Hogwash 2015 Rosé – $16 USD per bottle.
Tasting Note: This wine is purely and simply summertime in a glass. The 2015 Hogwash Rosé displays a pale salmon-pink color and a beautiful and lively nose that showcases aromas of watermelon candy, red cherries, red current and rose water. Medium bodied, it has incredible vibrancy that combines with its great finish to create a wine that is both a very serious rose wine but has something for everyone via: Hogwash
Your angels were slamming back this delish Rosé by the bottle on the weekend! We will be keeping our eyes peeled to find it in the LCBO sometime soon!
Spier Signature Chardonnay – Find it here for $11.95 at the LCBO
Tasting Note: Grape fruit, lime, yellow apple, banana, pear and hints of vanilla / butterscotch on the nose. The palate is creamy with layered fruit, pleasant acidity and good balance via Spier
This wine was tasting all kinds of awesome in our recent South African Wine School class. Pick up a bottle at the LCBO and see what we mean!
Vinetti De Fiorini Chianti Superiore DOCG – Find it here for $14.95 at the LCBO
Tasting Note: The nose has a distinctive floral/violet aromatic, with some reserved pruney fruit, and hints of spice and leather. The palate follows up with the same reserve on the fruit, but with a good combination of both acidity and astringency, and the alcohol sits very prettily at 12.5%. There’s none of that barrique nonsense going on here, the wine being aged in very traditional large casks for 12 months, so don’t fear the curse of over-oaked Sangiovese with this bottling via Jamie Drummond, Good Food Revolution
We are always on the hunt for good quality wines at a price point that doesn’t break our budget because let’s be real, we always want to buy more than 1 bottle! You won’t be disappointed
