Tend to go lighter with some Burgundies or Cru Beaujolais and some whites: Prosecco, Pinot Blanc (Alsace) or a Chard.

Recently invited some friends up for a wine and food weekend; what a way to enjoy Muskoka:

1)	Champagne R. Pouillon – light, crisp, not too acidic. Smooth, little floral very good
2)	Rose Chateau la Cour de l’Eveque 2008 (France) – strawberries, not too acidic. Very earth, great Rose
3)	Burgundy (Beaujolais) 2003 Clos de Rochegres Moulin-A-Vent Louis Jadot – dark cherry, red licorice, earthy, smooth - excellent
4)	2004 Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin La Princee (Chard - Burgundy)– pears, green apples - very nice
5)	Domaine Georg Rafael 1997 Cabernet Savignon (California)– cassis, menthol, eucalyptus
6)	Petra-Toscana 2004 Indigazione Geografica Tipica Tuscany – very big, lots of flavor. Big nose, big mouth. Cassis, tannin, licorice, herbaceous, earthy. Has the structure to go years in cellar.
7)	Amarone – Marano 1998 Amarone Della Valpolicella classic Italian Boscoini – portish, sweet fruit, spicy, little bit of heat. Candied fruit like Christmas cake. Mature and starting decline but still great.
8)	Ornellaia 1996 Italian Marchese lodovicoa Bolgheri Superiore – the definition of fine wine. Soft, sweet nose, very smooth. The icing on the cake. Ornellaia always superb!
9)	2004 Pillitterri late harvest cabernet Franc :Excellent
10)	Chateau Lamothe 2003 Guignard (Sauternes)
11)	2006 Recioto Valpoliocellia Bertani - good
MENU
1)	Cantaloupe, Serrano Ham, Bundenerfleisch duck roulettes, pork & shitake pate
2)	Crostini with anchovies, sauteed shitake, homemade tapenade
3)	genovase pesto, boccancini, cherry tomatoes (Calibrese variation)
4)	Tuscan watermelon salad
5) BBQ rack of lamb with mint pesto
6)	Marinaded grilled asparagus, sundried tomato and oregano marinade
........ Wild Muskoka blueberry pie and cheese plate w dessert wines - Segwun went by the dock between courses -

Lunch was burgers with samples of assorted Euro beers - Hefe Weissen beer & lemon, Chimay..... Cheers
