Post #2 – Interview with Wolfgang Blass

I was lucky enough to have a chance to meet and talk with Wine Icon Wolfgang Blass (Founder of Wolfblass Wines) at the Fairmont Royal York hotel on a fine Spring day in May of last year. It was a really amazing experience. To boot, I also got him to sign a bottle of Wolf Blass Yellow Label (how fitting) to hold on to tas a keepsake of our meeting and great memory.

Wolfgang Blass had a passion to build a company and he did just that-which is probably the reason I found him so fascinating. He is a true Entrepreneur. As an entrepreneur and wine enthusiast myself, it was really wonderful to sit down with someone who has been in the wine industry for quite a long time, has made a huge impact on it and has also seen the industry change into what it is now.

He is an intelligent and wise gentlemen who is very charismatic and has achieved much success in his life.

A few tidbits about Wolfgang Blass the Man:

* He is a Virgo and has what he calles a “practical attitude and application towards life”
* He believes that self-motivation is the key to success
* His philosophy is based on ” Quality, Character, & Consistency”
* He believes in inspiration and sometimes rainbows
* He has a hobby in horse racing, football, skiing and fishing
* He is notoriously known for wearing a bow tie and giving a thumbs up in pictures
* He has been married three times
* He has achieved an Order of Australia among many other accolades

So be sure to pick up a bottle of Wolf Blass to celebrate Wolfie’s 76th Birthday this year. The Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cab/Shiraz are my favourites.

Also be sure to make it out for our SUNDAY NIGHT SOIREE, featuring live music and Wolfblass Wines on Sunday April 25th at Barchef Lounge. It’s a limited event and promises to be a great evening!
